What an excellent and exciting year it has been with AppleShed! Firstly, we’d like to thank all of the parents and friends of AppleShed for showing us your support and we hope that our children and young people have had as much fun as we have.
This year has been one of learning and growth for us, we’ve been able to explore so much within our Youth Theatre, from movement and dance to storyboards, comedy and improv to silent dramas, and finally our very special performance, Our Own Fairytales. Our Own Fairytales was such an exciting project that we were thrilled to explore with our Youth Theatre, who really showed us just how much they shine! The group were able to come up with their own performance, start to finish, and I think the result is something we were all super proud of!
AppleShed were also lucky enough to explore Our Own Fairytales at Kingshill Church School, which was a lot of fun! We hope to see the young people from Kingshill again in the future and continue exploring performance with them.
Overall, it’s been an excellent year and a real pleasure sharing all of this with the Congresbury community. And it would be remiss to not mention our phenomenal volunteers, who really made all the difference in Youth Theatre!
“I have absolutely loved my time volunteering at AppleShed over the past 9 months. I have loved helping the children to use their incredible imaginations each week to create some very creative performative pieces. I often ended up acting in the performances myself too which has always been very fun.
It has been great to help provide a safe space where children of all ages and abilities are free to express themselves through the art of theatre. Theatre and music bring so much happiness in to the world and should be accessible to absolutely everyone, which is why AppleShed’s ethos of inclusivity is so important and I have loved being a part of it.”
